LOS ANGELES, Aug 18: Lin-Manuel Miranda, mastermind behind Pulitzer-winning play “Hamilton,” has been roped in by Disney to write songs for their “Little Mermaid” movie.
He will serve as a co-writer with Alan Menken, reported Aceshowbiz.
The Broadway star will also produce the film alongside Marc Platt.
“Mermaid” is not the only project which Miranda is doing for Disney. He is also tapped to write songs for the Mouse House’s animation “Moana” which stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and has contributed music for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as well.
Apart from Disney, Universal Pictures has also announced their own adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson classic tale. Chloe Moretz is attached to play the lead role. (PTI)
