Lineman dies after fall from electric pole

KATHUA, Nov 23: A lineman of Power Development Department (PDD) died after he fell down from the electric pole on which he was working to restore the power supply to the village Khrot near Govindsar this morning.
He has been identified as Ganesh, 40, son of Krishan Singh of same village. Reports said that Ganesh received a phone call that power line has developed a snag and to rectify the fault he ascended the electric pole where from power was supplied to the area. But he slipped and fell down on a shed of Angle Iron which was constructed under the pole. He received grievous injuries and died on spot.
His body was later taken to District Hospital Kathua where from after postmortem it was handed over to family members to last rites.
The Kathua Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law. Ganesh was working as a PDL in the Department and the officers concerned have assured job to his wife as he is survived by two kids and the wife and the family has no source of income.
