MENDHAR, Oct 29: A lineman of Power Development Department (PDD) died of electrocution while repairing a transformer in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district today.
A Police official said that PDD lineman, Mohammad Shabir (50), son of Badar Din, a daily wager, died on the spot while repairing an electric wire near transformer in Kalaban area of Mendhar.
He said lineman had climbed the joint poles for the repair of Line phase of the transformer and power supply was stopped at the time. Some body from the Station released the power supply when he was working on the second Phase. With the negligence on the part of some official at the station, the power supply was restored and the daily wager worker of the PDD was trapped and died on the spot.
Manzoor Kohli, SHO Mendhar said that as soon as got the information of this incident, the police party reached on spot and took stock of the incident. He said investigation has been started. He said action under law will be taken against the culprits.
The daily wagers of PDD in Mendhar Sub Division taking serious note of the incident have lodged their strong protest with the AEE PDD Mendhar and Executive Engineer, Poonch demanding action and compensation for the victims’ family.
