JAMMU, July 27: A deputation of All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union, Jammu led by Vijay Gupta its chairman, met the Chief Engineer PDD (M&RE) Ajay Gupta and discussed the issues of the linemen.
During the meeting with the Chief Engineer they submitted a memorandum with charter of demands. They demanded creation of Welfare Fund, ex-gratia relief for the dependants of those workers who were electrocuted or injured in mishaps while on duty, provision of safety tools to the field workers, early conduct of DPC and regularization of the services of daily wagers who are sitting on dharna for the last one month.
The Chief Engineer M&RE, gave patient hearing and assured the linemen that their demands will be taken up on priority after discussion with higher authorities.
