Liquor smuggled to Katra from Chandigarh seized

JAMMU, Aug 3: Police today seized a large quantity of liquor being smuggled into holy town of Katra from Chandigarh in a Punjab Roadways bus No. 7960 PB65K in Katra town.
One of the accused was arrested by police on spot while two others managed to escape.
SSP Reasi Raghubir Singh said 45 bottles of IMFL smuggled from Chandigarh to Katra in the Punjab Roadways bus have been seized.
The bus conductor Gurjeet Singh of Punjab was arrested from the spot while driver Swaran Singh, also a resident of Punjab, managed to escape.
Brij Mohan alias Bittu of Katra, who had to receive the consignment, too fled away.
Police was searching Bittu and Swaran Singh.
A case against all three accused has been registered at Katra police station.
Police parties headed by SHO Katra Ashok Sharma made the arrest and seizure.
Police said the checking of Punjab Roadways buses has been intensified following reports that liquor was being smuggled to Katra from Punjab and other places.
