SAMBA, Feb 1: A 85 mm live shell was recovered from the fields this afternoon in village Chechwal, Chaliari, under Rajpura Police Station in Samba district.
The panic spread the area after people came to know of it.
According to the police, around 3:00 pm today, Som Nath, son of Bantu Ram went to work in his fields and while working he found a mortar shell there.
He immediately informed the Rajpura Police Station. After which the police and bomb disposal team reached the spot and took alive shell into their custody and later neutralized the surviving mortar shell.
Rajpura police has registered a case and started investigation in this regard. It is not yet ascertained where from the shell came.
