POONCH, June 8: A scare has been created among the villagers hailing from Syal, Khari Karmara and Shahpur area along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch due to some live shells, fired by Pakistani troops, lying in the fields and near their houses.
Reports said that about a score of live shells have been spotted by the villagers in Syal and Karmara area during last three-four days. The people are apprehending any mis-happening due to presence of these live mortar shells lying in the fields of the people and also nearby forest.
Pakistani troops have been targeting Indian villages near the LoC continuously in Poonch and Rajouri sector. The people say that they are unable to graze their cattle freely or move themselves as any mishap can take place if any shell exploded.
Villager Mohd Sadiq from Syal told the Excelsior that their families in the area were living in panic due to constant unprovoked Pak shelling and presence of live shells all around. He said these shells have curtailed their movement and defence authorities must defuse these live shells to avoid any mishap. Sadiq said they apprehend even damage to their cattle, who often move to the nearby fields for grazing. Even the boys go closer to the shells and start fiddling, it may prove fatal. He demanded early neutralization of these live bombs.
