Livestock Mission Committees to monitor Mission Programmes

JAMMU, Apr 6: For the implementation of Mission Programmes, the State Government has accorded sanction for the constitution of State Livestock Mission (SLM) and District Livestock Mission Committees.
The ten-member State Livestock Mission will be headed by the Administrative Secretary Animal Husbandry Department while the concerned District Development Commissioner will be heading the respective District Livestock Committees, which will have eight members.
The SLM shall prepare strategic, perspective and annual action plan in consonance with Mission’s goals and objectives. Thereafter, in close coordination with Technical Support Groups, State Agricultural Universities and Indian Council of Agricultural Research Institutes, it will oversee its implementation.
It will also organize base-line survey and feasibility studies in different parts to determine status of fodder/livestock production, potential and demand and tailor assistance accordingly.
The SLM shall receive funds from National Mission Authority, State Government and other sources, poor financial resources for carrying on mission’s activities, maintain proper accounts thereof and submit utilization certificate to the National Mission Authority.
Besides, it will release funds to the implementing organizations and organize awareness, training programmes, furnish monthly progress report to DADF and also upload the same by 5th of each month on the website of department/Mission.
The District Livestock Mission Committee (DLMC) shall be responsible for carrying forward objectives of the Mission for project formulation, implementing and monitoring.
