LMD books 2 for overcharging, hoarding of masks

JAMMU, Mar 10: Legal Metrology Department today booked two drug dealers for overcharging and hoarding of masks and sanitizers in Jammu.
A team of LMD under the supervision of Controller, Legal Metrology Department, J&K, conducted an extensive checking of chemist shops and traders dealing with surgical items for detecting over charging and hoarding of masks and sanitizers.
During the checking in Gandhi Nagar area, one chemist was found charging Rs 50 for sale of one piece of mask against the purchase price of Rs 15.50 as per invoice. Other trader dealing with surgical items at Trikuta Nagar was found storing bulk quantity of different types of masks and sanitizers without MRP, address of the manufacturer and other mandatory declaration for leaving loop holes for the retailers to charge at their will and whim.
The inspecting team comprising Joint Controller, Legal Metrology, Jammu, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology, Consumer Protection, Jammu, Deputy Director FCS&CA and other enforcement officers seized all the deceptive packages and registered cases against two offenders under the relevant provisions of Law.
The Department has appealed to all the traders dealing with these items not to indulge in the malpractices and unethical sales and to issue proper bill to all the consumers.
