LMD books 3 companies for selling goods without MRP

JAMMU, Jan 10: Acting on the complaints of consumers for being cheated by the retailers by not informing actual price on the packaged items, the team of the officers of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) booked 3 companies for not declaring mandatory declaration MRP on packaged goods.
According to complainant, he was charged Rs 150 for lollipop candies and was also over charged for ice cream at Wave Mall, Narwal. The Department booked M/s House of Candy and M/s Kulfiano Sarbatra enterprises at Wave Mall for not declaring MRP on the products and notices were issued to the management.
The department also booked M/s Quantum Technologies Bahuplaza for selling digital visualiser and Ahuja microphone without mentioning MRP for the information of consumers.
Taking cognizance of other complaints of overcharging on sale of milk items, the department also imposed a fine of Rs 10000 on the vendors of M/s Surya Milk in Jammu city.
