JAMMU: A team of Legal Metrology Department today conducted surprise inspection of the ration depots in Gandhi Nagar, Ustad Mohallah, Janipur and their adjoining areas.
During the inspection, two ration depots were found closed during the working hours. Controller, LMD R.K Katoch recommended strict action against the defaulting ration depot holders to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
At Janipur, the consumers complained about the poor quality of Atta being supplied to them by the depot holder. The inspection team directed the depot holder to immediately stop the sale of Atta and lifted the sample for analysis at the laboratory. The inspection team comprised of Joint Controller, LMD V.S Sambyal and inspectors of Legal Metrology Department.
