UDHAMPUR, July 20: An inspection team of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on branded, Marvel Tea (Gold) for duping consumers.
The team led by Assistant Controller, LMD Udhampur Anita Sharma and assisted by Inspector, Rita Devi and other officials during inspection found that the tea sold in pouches having net weight 15 gms branded Marvel Tea ( Gold) had discrepancies in mandatory declarations which are displayed for the information of consumers. Moreover, there was smudging of MRP also.
During inspection at distributor level it was found that all the pouches had the same problem. A case was booked and a penalty of Rs 25,000 was imposed on the company. They admitted their fault and promised to rectify the mistake.
