SAMBA, Nov 26: A team of Legal Metrology Department today conducted extensive checking of various business establishments at Samba, Vijaypur, Bari Brahamana, Ghagwal and adjoining areas.
The team was headed by Assistant Controller Samba, Ajay Kumar.
More than 100 business establishments were inspected wherein 30 erring establishments including KFC Sarore were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Standard of Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 2011(Amended) and packages Commodities rules and a penalty of Rs 29,200 was imposed on them.
The traders were directed to use only those Weighing and Measuring Instruments for business transactions which have been duly verified and authenticated by the Legal Metrology Department and ensure that Maximum Retail Price (MRP), date of packing (PKD), Net Contents and complete address of the Manufacturer/Packer and Customer Care Number be declared on the commodities to be sold in package form as per rules.
The Department also appealed the Consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the Commodities.
