JAMMU, June 6: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) today recovered Rs 9,600 from the shopkeepers involved in use of unverified weights and measurers in commercial transactions.
The market checking squad of Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of V S Sambyal, Deputy Controller (Enforcement) has conducted inspection of the shopkeepers dealing with meat, chicken, fruits and vegetables in various areas of Gujjar Nagar, BC Road, Janipur and Talab Tillo.
The squad detected ten shopkeepers involved in use of unverified weights and measurers in commercial transactions and less weight-ment and overcharging from purchasers and fined them of Rs 9,600, which was recovered from them on the spot.
