KISHTWAR, July 24: The team of Legal Metrology Department today booked eight traders for violations of provisions of Weights and Measures Act during inspection of various markets in this township. The inspecting team charged Rs 7000 as fine from three goldsmiths and five retail traders for different violations.
The market checking squad warned the traders against the unfair practices including overcharging. The traders were directed to display verified rate lists, sell only standard packaged commodities, adhere strictly to the rules regarding MRP, net content, date of manufacturing and expiry date.
The team also advised the general public to approach the department on finding a trader indulging in malpractices or cheating.
