JAMMU, May 8: Lajwanti Medical Trust (LMT), Jammu under the aegis of Jammu AGOI chapter and in scientific collaboration with medical and other health care institutions of Jammu organized a CME cum Workshop on Gynaecological and Surgical malignancies here today at Jammu Club.
The programme was inaugurated by KB Jandyal and presided over by Dr Shashi Gupta, president, Jammu AGOI chapter while Rakesh Gupta, president, Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, graced the occasion as guest of honour.
Sponsored by J&K Bank, the programme covered discussion about the malignancies of the breast, female genital organs and GIT malignancies.
About 100 delegates derived out of medical, radiation, surgical, gynaecology, oncology and onco-pathology took part in discussions and workshops to support the improvements of practice of oncology and combat work force issues.
Dr Surjit Patnaik, a GIT onco-surgeon from Indo-American Institute of Cancer and Research, Hyderabad and Dr Uma Devi, a Gynae-onco-surgeon from KMIO, Bangalore, were National faculty. In addition, Dr Vikas Roshan and Dr Mir Hussain from Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Super Speciality Hospital and Dr Shamin from AIIMS Delhi took part in the programme.
During the function, an interactive meeting of prominent citizens, social activists and medical specialists took place which created an atmosphere of individual’s involvement as a stake holder to define strategies for providing effective cancer care facility to the public in inaccessible areas of Jammu region as well as improvement of resources of cancer care in public hospitals.
