KISHTWAR, May 17: In a crackdown on illegal mining, the enforcement team of Geology and Mining Department led by District Mineral Officer (DMO) Kishtwar, Abhey Kumar on the directions of District Magistrate Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav seized an LNT machine involved in illegal mining in Gossi area near Chanderbhaga River bed at Gulabgarh Paddar.
The seizure operation was carried out by Geology and Mining Department in collaboration with other enforcement agencies and in accordance with the laws outlined in the Mineral Act.
A handout stated that by taking decisive action against illegal mining activities, the authorities have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to uphold the law and preserve natural resources in the region.
A case under the relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and investigation has been started.
DM Kishtwar has warned all against illegal extraction and emphasized on the need for strict adherence to the guidelines under the Mining Act, failing which strict action shall be taken.
