KISHTWAR, Dec 27: Three persons have lost their lives in yet another tragic road accident on the killer roads of mountainous Kishtwar district this evening.

Sources informed that at 5 pm a load carrier vehicle of TATA make bearing registration number JK17-8554 while on its way to Tyari from Sohal skidded off the road near Sohal and landed 70 meter down on the bank of mighty Chenab river leaving all the three persons onboard including the driver dead on the spot.
When contacted, SSP Kishtwar, Javed Iqbal informed that reasons behind the accident were under investigation.
“The mishap took place at a remote place on Pangi-Paddar road and cops had a tough time amidst the inclement weather to retrieve the bodies,” he informed.
Those killed in the accident were identified as Vinod Kumar, 26, son of Gayan Chand; Devi Singh, 45, son of Ram Lal and Aman Kumar, 25, son of Ramesh Kumar, all residents of Ishtyari, Padder in Kishtwar district.
Bodies of all the three deceased persons were shifted to SDH Atholi for post-mortem.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
MoS PMO, Dr. Jitendra Singh has expressed grief over the accident. In a post on social media platform X (earlier Twitter), he wrote: “I am in touch with DC #Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shawan who is keeping me updated about the unfortunate road accident of a Van carrying 3 persons at Sohal road in the Padder area.”
