KISHTWAR, Feb 3: A load carrier met with a tragic accident in Danduroo area, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Dachchan, this evening.
The vehicle, bearing registration number JK17A – 5557, deployed at the under-construction Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project, was en-route to Kishtwar when it veered off the road, rolled down a deep gorge, and plunged into Chenab River.
The exact number of persons on board remains unclear. However, a massive rescue operation has been launched by the police, SDRF, Red Cross, and local volunteers to trace the missing persons and recover the vehicle.
The search efforts were continue till the last reports came in.
