UDHAMPUR, June 27: Agitated over the worst condition of Chowki to Katwalt road, locals today protested against Public Works Department (PWD) and demanded immediate repair and black topping of the said road.
Shouting slogans, the villagers alleged that due to worst condition and potholes on this 8- km long road, Minibuses and buses prefer to avoid plying on this road with the result that children were not able to reach their school while all villagers are facing manifold problems.
“Condition of the road is so bad that we can’t even smoothly walk on the road and in case of emergency, it is difficult to shift patients or pregnant women to district hospital Udhampur,” they explained and lamented that despite repeated pleas, no action was taken by the district administration and PWD department to repair the stretch and improve the road condition.
The protesting villagers threaten to gherao the PWD office if no action is taken to repair the road within days.
