UDHAMPUR, Oct 13: Local villagers and students protested against the Revenue Department and district administration for deletion of the pathway that leads to Govt Girls Middle School Kharodian, Pilot Academy High School and two hospitals (PHC) at village Battal.
The protesting students and locals were raising slogans against Revenue Department and district administration to resent removal of the pathway. The villagers alleged that the Revenue Department illegally transferred this Kachari land Khasara number 1102, measuring 4 kanal 19 Marla in favour of a private person even as all the villagers were using this route for the last more than 70 years. This has led to great problem for inhabitants of village Battal as there is no entry for them from any side to this area, they added.
Locals claimed that the matter was brought into the notice of Tehsildar but no action was taken. “Since it is the only link to the area, we request to District Administration to open the pathway as soon as possible so that the daily routine of 20,000 villagers is not affected, they appealed.
