UDHAMPUR, May 18: Locals protested against the District Administration Udhampur for opening of quarantine center at Ashoka Hotel Lambi Gali Udhampur.
The protesters alleged that the opening of a quarantine center in the residential area could increase the risk of the spread of corona virus infection.
Yesterday Udhampur District Administration had ordered opening of quarantine center at Ashoka Hotel in Lambi Gali Udhampur, which is highly populated place with about 500 houses in the nearby.
“If this order is not immediately withdrawn by the District Administration Udhampur, we will sit on the dharna from tomorrow,” the protested people warned.
Former MLA and NPP President Balwant Singh Mankotia has also lambasted the decision of District Administration of making the quarantine centre in the heart of Udhampur city and in the residential areas.
“During this pandemic, locals of Udhampur are fully cooperating with Government, but the dictatorial attitude of administration of making the quarantine centres in residential areas is completely unacceptable,” he said and appealed the Government to conduct sample testing of the arriving stranded persons in their respective home districts.
