UDHAMPUR, July 6: Agitated over alleged insensitive attitude of the Police towards victimization of a woman by her in law, which ultimately led to miscarriage, locals held a strong protest in Tikri area.
Raising slogans against police and demanding stern action against the accused father-in law of the victim, the protesting people also blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for more than one hour.
They claimed that the victim Sarishta Devi was being physically tortured by her in-laws, which resulted into death of four month baby in her womb.
The protest dharna was called off only after some senior police officers reached the spot and assured prompt action as per law in the case.
