REASI, Nov 5: For the second consecutive day, locals protested against proposed cable car project for Shiv Khori and held a dharna at Ransoo, which was attended by senior Dap leader and former minister Jugal Kishore Sharma.
Shouting slogans, the porters were agitating against the proposed cable car project, which according to them, was s not suitable as per the terrain. The protesting people said that the project would severely affect livelihood of the Ponywalas and the Palkiwalas.
While addressing the protest demonstration, Jugal Kishore said that the Masterplan proposed for the town was also not upto mark as it does not fulfill the needs of the local people and so a revised plan should be introduced in order to fulfill the requirements of the masses. He alleged that the Shiv Khori Shrine Board has not done any development in the recent past with the funds that are offered to the board but not being used for the required purpose.
“The plan as discussed by the Board was to develop the shrine as much as possible by developing universities and colleges however none of these promises have been fulfilled and no step been taken towards the same till date,” he said.
The protesting people vowed to continue the protest till the concerned authorities consider their demands.
As already reported, a strong protest was held yesterday also against change of alignment in the proposed ropeway project for Shiv Khori and a complete shutdown was observed by the locals of Ransoor and adjoining areas.
