UDHAMPUR, Apr 21: Inhabitants of Kud in Block Chenani of District Udhampur are facing healthcare crisis due to the lack of adequate facilities at the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC), Kud.
They said that the NTPHC, which was established several years ago, lacks the basic facilities necessary to provide adequate medical care. They said patients often have to wait for hours to get examined by a doctor and are forced to travel long distances to access advanced medical services due to no ultrasound scanners and X-ray machines at the NTPHC.
The absence of round-the-clock medical services at the centre is causing significant distress among the local community, who are now demanding immediate action from the authorities.
The shortage of staff at the centre is also a major concern. People in five Panchayats are dependent on this hospital for the health facilities. Besides, this is the only health centre available for the tourists visiting Kud, Patnitop, Sanasar and adjoining areas.
Kuldeep Raj Sarpanch Kud said that if someone falls ill or has an accident after 4 pm, the doctors here do not attend the patient with the result they are left with no option other than to go to Chenani Hospital. Many times the patient dies due to long distance, he said and appealed LG Manoj Sinha to pay attention towards the plight of these poor villagers.
