MENDHAR, Oct 19: Traffic snarls are putting the local residents in trouble especially during office and school going hours due to wrong parking of vehicles by the people and callous attitude of the authorities.
In Mendhar Town, from Main Chowk to Bus Stand, which is one of the busiest areas of the town, hour’s long traffic snarls at regular intervals has become a routine affair and wrong parking of vehicles on roadside is the major reason for it.
“Traffic Police don’t take any action against the defaulters. They should seize the vehicles which create traffic snarls. Local Police is also acting as a mute spectator, which has added to the woes of common people here”, a local resident said.
Some other locals namely Ketan Verma, Ajaz Ahmed and Mohammad Imran stated that only two to three police officials can be seen roaming in ever busy Yaadghaar Chowk, which mostly remain engaged with load carriers, whereas the deployment of cops near Hanuman Temple is also not up to mark, which leads to major traffic chaos.
Few cops deployed in the area hardly bother to manage the traffic as a result of which large number of vehicles gets parked haphazardly which results in long jams. Locals alleged that it is difficult to pass through the Mendhar-Jammu Road near Hanuman Temple market area during day time because of unmanageable traffic.
People have appealed to DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav and DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Vivek Gupta to take up the issue with the Government to avert the routine jams in the market so that people have some sigh of relief from the regular traffic jams.
