Lok Adalat held

JAMMU, Oct 25: A Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of VC Koul, Chairman DLSA for taking up cases for settlement.
Three benches were constituted for the said purpose. The bench number 1 which was headed by VC Koul, Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu and assisted by Presiding Officer Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal, Jatinder Singh Jamwal heard 45 cases out of which 19 cases with an amount of Rs 89,30,000 were settled.
The second bench was headed by Additional District Judge (Bank Cases) Jammu, Bala Jyoti, and assisted by City Judge Jammu, Surinder Singh. A total of 20 cases were taken up by the bench out of which 19 post-litigation and one pre-litigation case with an amount of Rs 28,637,361 were settled on spot.
The third bench constituting of CJM Jammu, Ashwani Kumar Sharma and assisted by Forest Magistrate Jammu, Wangial Tsering took up 9 cases out of which 2 civil cases were settled.
The representative of banks, insurance companies, advocates and litigants participated in the Lok Adalat.
