Lok Adalats settle 140 cases in Srinagar, Sumbal, Pulwama

SRINAGAR, June 30: A Lok Adalat was held in the premises of Saddar Court Complex under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Rashid Ali Dar.
As many as 200 cases of different nature were taken up during the Lok Adalat, out of which 110 cases were amicably settled on spot. An amount of Rs. 22.15 lakh was awarded as compensation in various Motor Accident Claims, besides an amount of Rs. 68.56 lakh was recovered in various bank cases and an amount of Rs. 42,900 was realized as fine in various petty criminal offences.
Officials of Court Members, Bar Association, large number of litigants besides senior citizens of the area were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a Lok Adalat was organized by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sumbal at Court Complex Sumbal.
As many as 8 cases of different nature were taken up during the Lok Adalat, out of which 4 cases were amicably settled on spot.
The Lok Adalat was presided over by the Chairman of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Fariqa Nazir besides Advocates and litigants were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex, Pulwama under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Pulwama, Jawad Ahmad and was presided over by District Judge Pulwama, Sub-Judge (CJM), Pulwama and Munsiff Pulwama.
As many as 35 cases of different nature were taken up during the Lok Adalat, out of which 26 cases were settled amicably on spot.
An amount of Rs. 6,15,000 was awarded as compensation in Motor Accidental  Claims and Rs. 37,000 was realized as fine.
