NEW DELHI : The Lok Sabha could not transact any business
for the second consecutive day as the BSP, the DMK, the AIADMK and
the Left parties created ruckus in the House over law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Lankan Tamils issue and gangrape of two
Tribal girls in West Bengal.
The House had to be adjourned for the day shortly after it re-assembled at 1200 hrs following an earlier disruption during the
Question Hour.
The slogan-shouting MPs trooped into the well demanding immediate
actions on the issues raised by them.
BSP members were up in arms for the ‘deteriorating law and order
situation in Uttar Pradesh’ in the wake of the murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police Zia-ul-Haque on Saturday.
The DMK and the AIADMK members, carrying a placard “save Tamils
in Sri Lanka”, raised the Lankan Tamil issue while the Left parties
were demanding action against the culprits in the gangrape of two Tribal girls in Burdwan district of West Bengal, where the police were yet to make any arrest.
Mr Inder Singh Namdhari, who was in the Chair, tried to pacify the agitated members by assuring them that their issues would be looked into but his repated appeals fell on deaf ears. He finally adjourned the House for the day.
Earlier, when the House met for the day, same scenes were witnessed and Speaker Meira Kumar had no option but to adjourn the
House till noon.
