NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha on Monday paid homage to former Defence Minister George Fernandes and other ex members who passed away during inter-session period.
Obituary references were made to the passing away of former members Keyur Bhushan, Bateshwar Hemram, Y G Mahajan, Dr G R Sarode, Jalagam Kondala Rao, K Krishnamoorthy and Bhanu Prakash Singh.
Speaker Sumita Mahajan said Late Fernandes was not only an experienced parliamentarian but he also stood for the cause of the poor and the ideology he believed in.
Fernandes, who was elected first to the fourth Lok Sabha, was also a man of high thinking but who chose to lead a simple life.
The former Defence minister died on January 29.
The House observed silence for a few moments to pray for the departed souls.
