Lone asks private colleges to focus on job oriented courses

JAMMU, Mar 16: Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone, has stressed upon the private educational institutions to focus on viable and job oriented courses in their respective colleges so that more and more educated youth can get job opportunities.
The Minister was speaking at the valedictory function of 2- day seminar on “Higher education in India: role playing parameters of excellence” being organized by Sai Shyam College of Education, sponsored by ICSSR New Delhi, which concluded here today.
The Minister said that need of the hour is implementation of human resources so that we achieve the job opportunities.
He asked the teaching community to learn education and teach education. He said that knowledge is the greatest power which only can liberate the society from the web of ignorance and uncertainty.
The students of the college presented colorful cultural programmes.
The seminar spread over several sessions, was chaired by Prof AG Madhosh, former Head of Department of Education, University of Kashmir, Prof Mubarak Singh, Head of Department of Education, University of Jammu, Prof Lokesh Kaul, Professor Emeritus HP University, Prof ML Kaul, former Director IGNOU, New Delhi, Prof Arbind K Jha, Dean School of Education, Head Department of Teacher Education Central University HP and Prof Ashok Kaul, former, Principal Government Degree College Reasi.
Over 60 papers and case studies were presented by the delegates from J&K and other States. Three delegate from Thailand and Myanmar also presented their papers.
Director Higher Education, Prof Nalini Kohli, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the activities of the Higher Education Department.
Earlier, the Chairman of the College C L Tikoo and Principal of the College Dr Usha Tikoo threw light on the activities of the college.
