Lone hints at closing private colleges minting money only

JAMMU, Jan 19: The Minister for Higher Education, Mohd.Akbar Lone today hinted at closing of all those private colleges in the state which have become the institutions of minting money.
The Minister while inaugurating one day national seminar on ”Environmental Sustainability in J&K ; Indicators and Trends ” organised  by Gandhi Memorial College at Raipur Bantalab near here in collaboration with Indian society of Geomatics and Kashmir University however, said the academic institutions in private sector will be  patronised  by the Government and provided genuine support if they show academic excellence.
The Minster also released the book on ‘women Career orientation ‘by Dr.Arti Durani and college news letter titled Glimpses.
In his address, former Chief Secretary and MLC Vijay Bakaya said that the role of HESK and growth of Gandhi Memorial College at Jammu is an example of the resolve shown by the Kashmir Pandit community to uphold its core value to propagating education .
The president of HESK Mr.Anil Dhar and Principal of GMCEJ Jammu Prof.G.L.Koul also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier ,The head of the department of Earth Sciences of Kashmir University Prof.Shakil Romshoo gave up a power point presentation on ”Environmental Scenario in J&K-indicators and Trends ‘.
Various papers were presented and discussed by the participants in the seminar during technical session. While Professor Ganjoo from Department of Geology of Jammu University presented paper on ‘waster resources and climatic change ‘, the former Vice Chancellor of the Global Open University Prof. Ravi Jee spoke on ‘contributing factors to Global warming Climate Change and Its Effects on Natural resources World wide ‘.  Dr.Nadeem Ahmad of Geological Survey of India also   presented paper on ‘how protected is our ground water.
