Srinagar, May 22: People’s Conference (PC) Chairman and Executive Council Member of Hurriyat Conference (M) Bilal Gani Lone today said that he is ready to distance himself from Hurriyat Conference, if any separatist leader believed that “I am hurdle for unification”.
Bilal Lone, was addressing a public rally at frontier district of Kupwara as part of their week long programme to remember Abdul Gani Lone on his 11th death anniversary and Moulana Mohammad Farooq on his 27th death anniversary.
Lone said unification of separatist leadership is important and without naming Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Lone said: “I am ready to sideline from the amalgam, if any separatist leader believes that I am hurdle in the unification.”
Lashing out at mainstream parties for extending false sympathy with Moulvi Mohammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone, Lone said that National Conference leader’s particularly Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar is trying to gain public sympathy out of his Statements on late Mirwaiz Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone.
“When Moulvi Mohammad Farooq was killed, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was Home Minister of India. When Abdul Gani Lone was killed, NC was ruling the State. Both the parties are blamed for their killing. The Statements by NC leaders are deliberately aimed to get public support ahead of the coming elections,” he said.
Lone said that elections is a non-issue for them and they have already appealed people to remain away from such activities as the elected leaders are projecting it wrongly at international forums.
Prof Abdul Gani Bhat on the occasion said that Kashmir issue is an internationally recognized and it is imperative for the Government of India to resolve the Kashmir issue for the larger interests of peace and normalcy in sub-continent.
He also expressed the hope that new Government of Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of the State.
In the meantime Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence and was not allowed to attend today’s public rally at Kupwara.  Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and other leaders continue to remain under house arrest. Zaffar Akbar Bhat was also today arrested near Pattan, when he was going to attend the Public rally at Kupwara.
