RAMBAN, Mar 7: Hundreds of people led by former MLA Banihal and senior Congress leader, Vikar Rasool Wani here today staged a protest demonstration against PDD for resorting to long power cuts during the month of Ramadan, especially at the time of Sehri and Iftar.
The protestors were flaying the authorities of having failed to provide adequate power supply to Banihal, Ramsu and adjoining areas.
They said that PDD is collecting hefty power tariff from them but still the department has failed to provide uninterrupted power supply during the ongoing holy month of Ramadan especially during the time of Sehri and Iftar which has caused hardships to the locals.
The protestors urged the authorities concerned to take necessary measures and ensure uninterrupted power supply to Banihal and adjoining areas, especially during Sehri and Iftar.
Addressing the protesters, Vikar Rasool said that they will not tolerate such power cuts in the holy month of Ramadan.
“If power situation in our area is not improved soon then we will come out on the roads to intensify our protests in the coming days,” a protester said.
Similar protests were also held at Khari areas of Sub Division Banihal and in Neel area of Sub Division Ramsu.
