SRINAGAR: On Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, former chief minister Omar Abdullah today said, ”we are looking forward to seeing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s August 15 speech on Kashmir acted upon”.

Mr Modi during his Independence Day speech from Red Fort had said, “Na goli se na gaali se, Kashmir ki samasya suljhegi gale lagane se (Kashmir’s problems can be solved only with embracing the people of Kashmir, not with bullets or abuses.)”

“Na golli say na gaali say, galay lagana say J&K ka masla hal hoga. We look forward to seeing these words from Red Fort on 15th Aug acted on,” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Mr Abdullah was responding to the Union Home Minister’s tweet which read, “I am going there with an open mind and I am willing to meet anyone who will help us in finding solutions to problems facing J&K.”

Mr Singh, who arrived here this afternoon on a four-day visit to the state, is scheduled to meet various delegations of people from different walks of life.

The Union Home Minister has already met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and discussed overall law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir, besides measures required to bring normalcy in the Valley. (AGENCIES)
