POONCH, Feb 19: Sarpanchs from at least 11 Panchyats of Loran block in Mandi today held protest against Rural Development Department (RDD) authorities for not taking them into confidence while allotting works.
Panchayat members led by Ajaz Ahmed Tantray, Sarpanch and Chairman block level committee, along with Sarpanchs Bashir Kamran, Mohd Aslam and others assembed at Loran block headquarters today and held brief protest. They were shouting slogans against BDO Loran and ACD Poonch.
They alleged that Panchayat members are not taken into confidence while allotting works by the concerned BDO office staff. Moreover, work codes given to the 11 Panchayats have been merged into one, making Panchayat units more weak. They warned to resign if their issues were not addressed within one week.
