JAMMU, June 20: Like other parts of the country the holy Jagannath Rath Yatra has been taken out in Jammu with religious fervor and gaiety today.
The yatra was organised by Jagannath Rath Yatra Sewa Sansthan Trust (JRYSST) and thousands of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu participated in it and paid obeisance to Lord Jagannath enroute. The devotees were singing bhajans at the beating of drums. The Sawari of Lord was taken on fully decorated chariots by the devotees who were attired in colorful dresses.
Some Sadhus riding on elephant back also participated in the Rath Yatra of Lord. There was lot of enthusiasm among the devotees and despite scorching heat people were seen waiting on both sides of Yatra route at various places to have darshan of Lord and pay obeisance to him. A representative of the Trust told this reporter that the Jagannath Ji Rath yatra is taken out in entire world with great reverence and for last some years the Trust is taking out this holy yatra in City of Temples also.
He said the people who perform darshan of Lord during this yatra get rid of worldly bondage and attain Nirwan when they leave their mortal remains. He said this is the reason that we heartily welcome all devotees taking part in the holy yatra. He said the yatra is organized by president of the Trust Ratikanta Swain and his associates.
The yatra stared from the South Gate of MA Stadium and passed via Vinayak Bazar, Canal road, Akhnoor road, Pawan Ice Cream, Bakshi Nagar, Gurudwara Road, Baby Catering, Rajpora, Kali Mata Mandir, Best Price, BSF Paloura main gate, Talab Tillo road and culminated at Sedeshwar Mandir, Vikas Lane.
He said from tomorrow to June 27 from 5pm to 9 pm daily Satsang will be held at Sedeshwar temple and devotees can perform darshan of Lord during this time.
On June 28 the yatra will be again taken out from Sedeshwar temple Vikas Lane via canal road, Science College , Vinayak Bazaar to culminate at MA Stadium gate.
The authorities had also made full security arrangements enroute for the yatra to avert any untoward incident.
