NEW DELHI: While admitting that there are a lot of job opportunities for women in every field, including filmmaking, Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon on Saturday said a lot more needs to be done to achieve equality in job opportunities for them.
Speaking during a panel discussion on ‘Feminism and Activism’ on the second day of the Arth fest, Raveena said, “I see a very positive change as well as more inclusiveness in the industry. Today, there are a lot more women at the helm of affairs in every department of film making which is a very positive sign, and because of this there are a lot more opportunities for women. The pay disparity is also reaching an equal situation now.”
“Today women are standing on their own feet, they are pursuing whatever they want and are getting equal job opportunities. However, there is a lot more to do in that aspect, “she said.
Talking about faith and religion, she said “Faith is a broader aspect which an individual should be allowed to practice the way they want. We have a lot of communities in our country and they all follow their own practices and have different tradition. We should respect that. As long as anyone is not harming, hurting or mutilating, bloodletting or creating any nuisance, a person should be allowed to practice harmlessly what they want to as an act of love. ”
