Sir,
Except J&K State rest of the States in the country follow the calandar of 5 years term for assemblies. We know our State is poor and dependent on Centre for assistance. Government employment is the only source for survival of our educated youth. The State lags far behind in the industrial sector in comparison to other States of the country. Our tourism industry can generate our revenue channel potentially but it is in shambles. The infrastructure of the State is vulnerable to militants that has weakened the State exchequer. The menace of corruption in the State has eaten the vitals of our State and majority of our people live hand to mouth. Our legislators have all facilities and live a luxurious life today.
Six years term in our State for our legislators is a huge burden on the shoulders of the masses who are paying taxes. If the Assembly term is lowered to 5 years the amount so saved can be diverted to welfare schemes through which people of the State can be benefitted. The matter needs immediate attention.
