LPEF demands revision of minimum wages

JAMMU, Dec 15: Abdul Majid Khan, president of All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation has reiterated the demand for revision of minimum daily wages to at least Rs 350 per day so that the daily rated workers are able to get some relief and respite from the pangs of steeply rising prices of all essential goods of daily consumption.
In a statement, he said that the rates revised under SRO 460, dated 26-10-2017 are not adequate enough to meet the bare minimum needs of the family and hence revision of the same should be done immediately.
The Federation chief also sought implementation of 7th CPC’s recommendations on Central pattern, release of DA installment due from the month of July 2017, expeditiously and enhance Medical Allowance from existing paltry rate of Rs 300 to at least Rs l000, revision of remuneration/honorarium of Village Guards, Numberdars, ReT Teachers/Education Volunteers, Adhoc and Contractual employees and those employees appointed under new pension scheme (NPS) at the earliest possible convenience.
Majid Khan said that the Chief Minister’s decision of regularizing 60,000 daily rated workers would greatly help the families of these workers, who have had been waiting since long for the justice.
