LPEF shows concern over move to convert employees’ colony into school

JAMMU, Oct 13: The Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) Kashmir has expressed serious concern over the Revenue authorities’ decision to take over the Upper Sindh Hydel Project State IInd employees’ colony at Kangan in Ganderbal district of Kashmir Valley for shifting of Higher Secondary School in the buildings there.
In a statement issued here, today , Mohammed Shaban convener, LPEF said that hundreds of employees of the Department putting up in the residential colony will be affected by the decision. He said the employees working in the project are performing round the clock duties and depriving them of the Government accommodations will put them to lot of problems. They will not get the private accommodation and the education of their children will also be affected.
Shaban said moreover the colony belongs to the Department and how it will be handed over to Higher Secondary School. He said earlier the Store Complex at Margund Kangan was also taken by some other department without any payment which is the property of PDC. He said the action has resulted into a lot of resentment among the employees and in case the colony was taken over by Education Department, the employees will be constrained to go for agitation. He made an appeal to Governor, S P Malik seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.
