JAMMU, June 14: Abdul Majid Khan, president All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) has criticized the Governor’s administration for disengagement of casual, seasonal, need based daily rated workers, adhoc/ contractual employees engaged after 29-04-2010 and 17-03-2015.
In a statement issued here, today he said legality or illegality it is the responsibility of appointing authorities but the incumbent workers/employees have been discharging their duties for more than five to ten years. Their abrupt disengagement at this juncture may push them and their families to starvation as such this irrational order needs to be scrapped forthwith in order to save aggrieved workers from certain starvation situation.
The Federation chief also was highly critical of orders issued for abruptly reverting age old Summer hours of working from 8 a.m to 2 p.m recently against which the employees have expressed strong resentment and they were fully justified to demonstrate against this abrupt change of office hours of working as during this period the temperature rises sky high which is unbearable for the employees working in the offices during summer months.
He recalled that earlier too the Government changed the office timing from 10 am to 4 pm and Bar Association headed by late Justice R. P Sethi of Supreme Court of India launched agitation against that order which was also resented strongly by the employees under the banner of Federation that forced the then Government to revert to age old office timing i.e 8 am to 2 pm during Summer months accepting the arguments put before the Government. He thus made a strong plea to Governor administration to revoke the impugned order and revert to old office timing of working i.e 8 am to 2 pm at the earliest in order to save the employees from opting the agitational path again under the banner of Federation as both the orders have generated lot of resentment among the employees, pensioners daily rated workers, adhoc & contractual employees.
