LPG agencies remain closed

JAMMU, Sept 7: All LPG Dealers of Jammu Province remained closed in response to the call for one day token strike announced by All LPG Distributors Association Jammu Province.
The strike was observed as a protest against alleged harassment to the LPG dealers by the administration through Crime Branch Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The dealers claimed that they have observed all guidelines issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Petroleum and the Oil Companies in the release of free LPG connections under the Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna to Below Poverty Line and under privileged people.
With the closure of about 90 dealerships it is estimated that 40,000 households were not supplied gas against bookings made.
The agencies will be working from tomorrow, but they have warned to go on an indefinite strike from next week if the matter is not resolved at the earliest.
