LPG gas pilferage case: fourth accused held

SAMBA, Nov 29: Police in Samba District claimed today that they have arrested the fourth accused in the LPG gas pilferage case registered at Police Post Supwal earlier.
A press statement said that the accused has been identified as Parveen Singh alias Baghu of Malwam, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua.
Earlier, on the intervening nights of November 15 and 16, 2023, two accused were caught red-handed while extracting gas from two Indane Gas tankers and filling it in the commercial cylinders at Village Chhajwal Barian. The third accused was arrested by the police on November 19, 2023.
As per police, the fourth accused caught today, is the driver of the one of the Indane Gas tankers and another accused driver of the Indane Gas tanker is still at the large.
“Raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding driver,” said police.
Disclosing the modus operandi of the people involved in the crime, police said four months back as well, pilferage of gas was committed from Indane Gas tankers at the same place (Chhajwal Barian) during midnight hours.
“The Indane Gas tankers coming from Punjab side to Indane LPG bottling plant Bari Brahamana, Samba, would stop at Chajjwal Barian, Supwal during night hours, where pilferage of gas would be performed,” they said.
Pertinently, the investigation of the case is being conducted by SHO Samba Inspector Daljit Singh and Chowki Officer Supwal, Deepika Jalotra, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Samba, Bhishm Dubey, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
SSP Samba, Benam Tosh, said that all the accused involved in the pilferage and breach of trust would be arrested soon as police are conducting raids at suspected places to arrest them.
