JAMMU, July 8: LPG Indian Oil truck drivers have formed new union and elected Tejinder Pal Singh Tara as their president.
Varinder Singh and Daljeet Singh have been elected as vice-president and general secretary, respectively while Sonu Raina was appointed as secretary of the LPG Indian Oil Truck Drivers Union.
The decision to form new union was taken during a meeting of the truck driver. The meet discussed various problems being faced by the LPG truck drivers. The drivers are made to keep their loaded vehicles stranded in IOC depot Bari Brahmana for hours together and allowed to leave very late thus causing delay in delivery of cylinders, the meet said and alleged that the Indane officers always support Labour Union leaders and not the drivers.
With the formation of their union, the issues and grievances of LPG Truck Drivers will be effectively highlighted and addressed, the meet observed.
