Lt Gen Pama moves to Strategic Forces Hqs

Army officers bid adieu to Chief of Staff, Lt Gen B S Pama during function at Northern Command in Udhampur.

Udhampur, Oct 10: Northern Command today bid a adieu to its Chief of Staff, Lt Gen BS Pama, on his transfer to New Delhi as Dy C-in-C in the prestigious Strategic Forces Command headquarters.
Lt Gen Pama, Colonel of 3 Gorkha Rifles, was commissioned into 2/3 GR on Sep 22, 1974.   During his long service, the General Officer has held a variety of portfolios command, staff and instructional appointments. The General has also had varied operational experience in J&K and other Counter Insurgency and operational areas.
A graduate from the Defence Services Staff College,  the General Officer has attended the prestigious Higher Command Course and the National Defence College Course.  He commanded 3/3 Gorkha Rifles and commanded an infantry brigade in J&K where he was awarded the Sena Medal for Gallantry. General Pama commanded an Infantry Division in the Western border.
General Pama has been an instructor at Infantry School, Belgaum and has a rich experience in staff, having been the Brigade Major of an infantry brigade, Colonel GS of a Mountain Division and Director Military Training, Brigadier General Staff at Corps and Command and as Additional Director General Perspective Planning at Army Headquarters. The General has also served as a UN Military Observer in Iran.
During his tenure as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Northern Command, the General was instrumental in the successful implementation and development of a number of infrastructure projects including the Married Accommodation Project (MAP). He was actively involved  in improving the quality of life of the troops and their families.
