JAMMU/KATHUA, Nov 27: Lt Governor J&K UT, G C Murmu, his Advisor Farooq Khan, Pradesh Congress, National Conference and members of GL Dogra Memorial Trust paid floral tributes to former J&K Finance Minister and Ex-MP, Girdhari Lal Dogra on his 32nd death anniversary today.
Lieutenant Governor, offered floral tributes to Late Dogra at Dogra Chowk, Jammu University Road in a function organized by Shri Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust here today.
Paying homage to Dogra, Lt Governor described him as a visionary leader who was instrumental in strengthening the economy of J&K as a Finance Minister and initiated many reforms for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society.

Pradesh Congress also organised a function in this connection at party office, Shaheedi Chowk under the leadership of PCC vice president Raman Bhalla. Several senior leaders including Mula Ram, Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Vikram Malhotra, Yogesh Sawhney and others paid floral tributes to Late Dogra.
While speaking on the occasion, Bhalla described Late Dogra as very simple and humble persons and real leader of the masses. “It will be real tributes to Dogra Sahib, if we follow his principles and inherent qualities,” Bhalla said.
In connection with the death anniversary of former J&K Finance Minister, GL Dogra, scores of prominent persons led by former MLC, Subash Chander Gupta paid rich tribute to the beloved leader in a function held at his home town, Govt Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar and at Hiranagar Morh today.
A large number of people were present on the occasion and paid homage to the veteran Congress leader, known for his honesty, simplicity and dedication for his service to the poor and downtrodden.
Gupta, while paying tributes to Late Girdhari Lal Dogra, recalled the contributions of Dogra for the development of the State. He particularly highlighted his humbleness and dedicated service towards the poor and deprived section of the society.
“Dogra Sahib was the leader of the masses and always felt pleasure in solving the genuine problem of the common man,” he said, adding that following the footsteps of Girdhari Lal Dogra would be the real tribute to him on his death anniversary.
He said Late Dogra will be remembered forever for his thinking for the welfare & betterment of people of our State.
Prominent among those who paid tributes include- Jagdish Dogra, Anat Ram Dogra, Murari Lal, Parveen Bhagat, Bhola Nath, Sat Paul Choudhary, KC Bhagat, Romesh Kundal, Koushal, Bishamber Dass, Ruldhu Ram, Capt Raj Singh, Som Nath Verma, Yash Paul Sing, Kartar Chand and others.
Meanwhile, senior National Conference leaders today paid rich homage to veteran Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra, describing him as one of the towering politicians of Jammu and Kashmir, who will be remembered for his unflinching commitment to the people.
“A politician par excellence, Dogra will continue to inspire younger generation of political activists because of his qualities of head and heart”, Provincial president Devender Singh Rana said after paying floral tributes to the departed leader at Dogra Chowk here.
Rana said Dogra had created a niche for himself as he literally remained at the beck and call of his people, especially at the time of need. He recalled the contribution of Late Dogra towards welfare and development of Jammu and Kashmir in various capacities including as a minister. He described him as an able administrator who left indelible mark of public service.
Prominent among those who paid tributes to Late Dogra included Rattan Lal Gupta, Babu Rampal, Pradeep Bali, Vijay Lochan, DS Jamwal, Ashok Singh Manhas, Sucha Singh and Tarsem Khullar.
