Ludhiana resident nabbed for pumping heroin in Jammu, other areas

JAMMU, July 1: A joint team of Satwari Police Station and Chatha Police Post under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ nabbed a Ludhiana resident for pumping heroin in Jammu and other areas so as to make youth drug addicts.
As per police sources, on credible information, a joint team from Satwari Police Station and Chatha Police Post laid a naka at Hakkal Morh and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstances and was trying to skip the police frisking.
During checking, police recovered 5 grams of heroin valuing Rs 50,000 from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Amritpal Singh, son of Surinder Pal Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, Punjab.
The arrested person was a driver by profession and was indulged in smuggling drugs from Punjab to Jammu. With his arrest, police saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 110/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Satwari Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh and assisted by Incharge Chatha Police Post SI Arun Slathia made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
