JAMMU, Apr 15: Veteran Congress leader, Ex-MP and former Minister, Madan Lal Sharma today appealed all social and political parties to join struggle launched by Congress and Panthers for setting up of AIIMS hospital in Jammu.
He said that he has no objection if AIIMS is given at both places in Jammu and Kashmir, as during their Government they sanctioned Central universities for both Jammu and Kashmir regions.
He said that BJP, for coming to power has sacrificed the issues of refugees and discrimination with Jammu region leaving Jammu region to a State of uncertainity which is suicidal for all. He stressed upon the need of pressurising Jammu based Ministers and both Central and State Governments so that they do not undermine the strength of Jammu region and sanction AIIMS for Jammu on top priority.
Sharma said that health, education and power infrastructure of Jammu region is in shambles and there is utmost need to address the interests of Jammu. He requested all Jammuites to stand together and realize the sanction of AIIMS as a first step to end discrimination.
The former Minister said that he always voiced the concerns of Jammu even when he was in power because of which many benefits and equi-distribution of funds was done during his tenure.
“I am really astonished and ashamed to note that the people in power from Jammu Region are compromising with the interests of Jammu and are not taking up issues which can benefit the poor and marginalised in Peer Panjal range, Chenab valley and Jammu”, he added.
He said that this is high time for them to restore confidence in Jammu region by immediately sanctioning AIIMS for Jammu otherwise they will face power exit forever.
