Madan cautions people against hate mongers

AKHNOOR, Dec 16: Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma, who is on 2-day tour of hilly belt of Jammu-Poonch Parliament segment, today addressed a series of public meetings at different places and highlighted the programmes and policies of the UPA Government at the Centre.
Vice Chairman, OBC Development and Advisory Board, Master Kuldeep Raj Verma and sectoral officers of various departments also accompanied the MP.
While addressing the people at Chowki Chowra, Hardo Malada, Salyote and Sunderbani, Member Parliament said that during the past over 10 years massive development has taken place in the rural and far-flung areas with special focus on upgradation of road network, education, social welfare and health sectors. The initiatives have helped in transformation of socio-economic profile of people.
He appealed the people to maintain peace, unity and communal harmony – key to the prosperity and development. He cautioned the people against the hate mongers who are weakening the strong democratic structure of the country. He made special mention about such elements which incite the sentiments of innocent people in the name of religion during electioneering for their petty gains, describing it dangerous for the society.
Listing the development initiatives taken during his tenure as MP of Jammu-Poonch Parliament seat, Mr. Sharma said that mega Jammu-Poonch Railway project has been sanctioned, adding that the project has been formally sanctioned and work will start soon. He said efforts are afoot to declare the project as national venture for its early completion in a time bound manner. On completion, these districts will be linked with the rest of the country with rail link and socio-economic profile of these two districts would change altogether and numerous job opportunities will also be created for the local youth, the MP asserted.
Regarding drinking water scenario in the hilly belt, he said the Government has developed a large number of new PHE schemes during the past over one decade and covered maximum areas under potable drinking water facilities. He said the PHE Minister has recently announced setting up of a mega water supply scheme for the Chowki Chowra area which will be tapped from the local nallah. This will overcome the drinking water problem in this belt, he added.
Master Kuldeep Verma also addressed the gathering and asked the people to strengthen the present Coalition Government which is making relentless efforts to address people’s problems on priority.
